One run was the difference at Wrigley Field as the St. Louis ballclub defeated
the Chicago (NL) team 5 to 4.
 
St. Louis promptly took the lead in their half of the first plating one
baserunner using 2 hits.  Chicago (NL) tried unsuccessfully to come back in
the 9th.  
 
The victory was credited to Ryan Helsley(1-1) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Giovanny Gallegos recorded his 6th save.  Jose
Quintana(0-1) was the loser.  His ERA increased from 2.45 to 4.50 as he
allowed 5 runs in 5 innings.  
 
'You have to give Chicago (NL) credit, they fought us tough to the end' St.
Louis' manager said.  'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled
out the victory.'
