Wilmer Flores homered and had 2 RBI as the San Francisco club defeated the
Arizona ballclub 4 to 3 at Chase Field.
San Francisco went ahead for good in the top of the 2nd inning scoring a
single run. After an out was recorded, Flores became the sole author of the
rally when he cracked a bases-empty home run. Arizona had a chance to come
back in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory was credited to Johnny Cueto(1-1) who went 5 innings, allowing 1
run. Cueto got help from Tony Watson who was credited with his 1st save. The
losing pitcher was Mike Leake(0-2). He allowed 3 runs and 7 hits in 6
innings.
San Francisco's manager was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game!
If only we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since
that's not going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
