In a good matchup it was the Washington ballclub 8, the New York (NL) club 6
at Nationals Park.
Washington brought 4 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning
when they came up with 3 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by
Starlin Castro who thrilled the crowd when he caught a hold of a fastball for
a Grand Slam homerun. Both teams ended up with 10 hits on the afternoon.
Roenis Elias(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Elias got help from Sean Doolittle who was credited with his 2nd
save. Jeurys Familia(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.
