In an great finish the Washington team won in dramatic fashion over the Miami
ballclub by a score of 6 to 3 at Nationals Park.

Washington scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning when they scored 4
runs on 4 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Yan Gomes who brought the
crowd to their feet when he emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun.
Miami was out-hit by Washington, 9 hits to 5.

The victory was credited to Sean Doolittle(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Brandon Kintzler(0-1) in relief.

Washington's manager was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet,
when asked about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he
volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Miami's
manager, feels right now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you
come up on the short end of one of these!'
