It was a great finish at PETCO Park as the San Diego club pulled off a
dramatic comeback beating the New York (NL) club by the count of 3 to 2.
San Diego erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
with 2 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Juan Lagares was the
sparkplug when he doubled. Tommy Pham was a strikeout victim, unable to help
out. Ty France then popped a two-run clout over the fence making San Diego
the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Overall San Diego
out-hit New York (NL) 9 to 5.
The winning pitcher was Trey Wingenter(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning.
Edwin Diaz(1-4) took the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 2 hits in 1
inning.
'What a game!,' Wingenter said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't
believe it!'
